RMH Newcastle
Ronald McDonald House - Newcastle
Like each of the 13 Ronald McDonald Houses across Australia, Ronald McDonald House Newcastle (RMH Newcastle) is a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children who must travel from country or regional areas for hospital treatment.
Since opening its doors in 1991, RMH Newcastle has provided shelter to over 5,900 different families who have visited on over 9,086 occasions. To these families, RMH Newcastle have provided 119,208 bed nights of accommodation.
In addition to providing families with the opportunity to stay together as a unit to support the sick child, RMH Hunter also brings a ‘home’ for parents to draw hope and comfort from other families in similar situations.
RMH Newcastle is run by Ross Bingham, CEO, who is supported by a team of over 170 volunteers, of which will volunteer their time as few as one day a month or as much as five days a week!
With the opening of the additional 6 self-contained units in 2005, RMH Newcastle is now able to provide accommodation for 18 families at maximum capacity.
